Mabamba wetland is the best area in Uganda to spot the Shoebill stork and look for Lake Victoria biome and globally threatened species. This tour is tailored for bird watchers who are already in Entebbe town or in Kampala city. You will explore mabamba wetland during day and return back to the hotel with some good sightings of migratory blue swallow as well as resident bird species like African jacana, purple heron, hammerkop, African fish eagle, malachite kingfishers among others.
Day by Day itinerary

This tour is tailored for bird watchers who are already in Entebbe town or in Kampala city. You will explore mabamba wetland during day and return back to the hotel with some good sightings of migratory blue swallow as well as resident bird species like African jacana, purple heron, hammerkop, African fish eagle, malachite kingfishers among others.
This wetland is located along the northern shores of Lake Victoria which is a short drive from Entebbe or Kampala. The marshy patches of papyrus, lilies and other grass are explored by a dug-out canoe with a professional birding guide.
Mabamba wetland is an important birding area (IBA) with lots of wetland biodiversity including 260 bird species recorded. Experienced birders can record a checklist of 157 bird species in a day.
Particular bird species to look for include the Shoebill stork, four globally threatened species, i.e. the pallid harrier, papyrus gonelock, white winged warbler and blue swallow which is an annual migrant specie.
The tour starts early morning at 07:00 a.m. with pick from your place of stay in Entebbe or Kampala. Transfer to Nakiwogo landing site at Entebbe for a 60 minute boat ride to Buwaya landing site where you again drive on a dirt road to Mabamba wetland. Get into a dug-out canoe and navigate wetland channels to maximize chances of spotting as many bird species as possible.
Return back to Nakiwogo landing site and transfer to your preferred destination. End of the tour. Included
