Day 1: Kampala to Murchison Falls National Park

Murchison falls National Park is situated in western Uganda about 305 km from Kampala city. Our guide will pick you up at the hotel for a journey taking 5-6 hour drive. You can reach Murchison by flight direct to the park. On the way in Masindi, stop at Ziwa rhino sanctuary for guided rhino trekking on foot with armed ranger. The rhino fund Uganda project has helped to bring back rhinos whose population was poached to extinction in the 1980’s. Since its inception in 2005, with 6 rhinos, the population has ever since increased to 26 rhinos.

After rhino trekking, proceed via forest patches south of the park and cross river Nile by ferry to the northern sector where safari game drives are conducted. Upon arrival check in your lodge of choice or pakuba safari lodge/ paara safari lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Safari game drive and boat cruise on the Nile

The day starts with early morning wake-up call and tea/breakfast then proceed for morning game drive. It begins as early as 06:30 a.m. at sunrise to get the best chances of sighting animals- especially leopards and lions that roam the park. The burigi and other game tracks give you great opportunities to spot animals that roam the park such as Rothschild’s giraffe, buffalo, hartebeest, oribi, African elephants, waterbucks, bushbucks, and hippos at the hippo pool.

By noon you will go to paara waiting and have packed waiting the boat for a cruise along which starts at 2 pm. The three hour boat ride along the river Nile gets you the best chances of sighting hippos, Nile crocodiles, water birds, mammals which come for a drink such as elephants and buffaloes. The boat ride culminates a few meters away from the bottom of the Murchison falls. Those who want to hike to the top of the falls will get off the boat and hike to the top of the falls. The guide will then pick you up later and drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Return back to Kampala

Following breakfast and a morning game drive safari, depart back to Kampala with wildlife memories and wonderful experiences. This is the end of the tour.
