Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Kigali tour
Wake to a delicious breakfast on the sound of the birds and nature as you are surrounded by the mist, impenetrable forest of Bwindi. Our driver guide will thereafter transfer you to the park offices for a pre-trekking briefing. This briefing will encircle the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking and also the code of conduct in the presence of the mountain gorillas. This briefing will be followed by categorizing you into groups of 8 people and assigning a gorilla family. The guide ranger will then lead you into the forests of Bwindi on a search for the endangered mountain gorillas. About 2-4 hours in the forest, you will encounter the primates, then you will be given an hour in their presence.
During this one hour, you will observe them as they play, feed, and groom their young as the silverback looks on. Take pictures for lasting memories before heading back to the offices. Here, our guide driver will transfer you back to the lodge for lunch and check out. Hit the road to Kigali for a city tour immediately after your lunch.
Depending on your departure flight, you can opt to do a city tour in Kigali. Enjoy a walk along the clean streets, interact with the locals at Kimironko market or witness the art and craft at the art galleries of Inema Art Center.
Later you will proceed to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight back home or to your hotel for overnight stay.
